Like the Internet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t confuse with\u2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whole<\/strong>: entire, complete, containing everything.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: Whole and Hole are pronounced identically.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holes in the news<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This month, telescopes captured the first images of a&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewordofthemonth.com\/images\/wom\/black-hole.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">black hole<\/a><\/strong>. The images prove that Einstein\u2019s theory is accurate (relatively).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, down here, we\u2019ve had&nbsp;<strong>holes<\/strong>&nbsp;in cathedral (Paris) and churches (Sri Lanka), and&nbsp;<strong>a whole lot<\/strong>&nbsp;of scandal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>black hole<\/strong>&nbsp;cares nothing for these Earthly matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outside holes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Foxhole<\/strong>: improvised shelter from gunfire during war. May contain foxes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pothole<\/strong>: gaps or holes in the street. Your tax money at work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hellhole<\/strong>: a dump or dirty place. That\u2019s no way to talk about our planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inside holes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pie hole<\/strong>&nbsp;(<em>slang<\/em>). The mouth. Food goes in, words go out.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A$$hole<\/strong>&nbsp;(<em>vulgar<\/em>) The rectum; an unpleasant person or place. You may be familiar with all three.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Navel<\/strong>. Round thing on your belly.
