Definitions

To resume: to begin again, to continue after a pause.

A résumé (US): a Curriculum Vitae, a.k.a a CV (UK);

Don’t confuse with:
Summary (from French: “résumé”). Write one of these after a meeting. Don’t worry, nobody will read it.

More Americanized French words

Cul-de-sac: the fanciest way to refer to a dead end.

À propos: À propos of your résumé, I see you graduated from Indiana Clown College.

Tête-à-tête: Now that we’re maskless, we’d like a tête-à-tête with your lips.

Resuming in the news

As Covid vaccinations continue, here are some things that have resumed:

  • Outdoor dining
  • The economy (send a résumé!)
  • Conflict in the Middle East

Finally we’re getting back to the way things were.

Ways to resume normalcy

Take off your mask: Or maybe keep it on? Just put it under your nose, then nobody’s happy.

Go to work: Thank god we can finally work from work. Provided we haven’t been replaced by a robot.

Throw a party: Host the superspreader event you’ve been dreaming about all year.

Resume life (responsibly)!
